Chapter 1672: Come do it yourself.

Pei Ge nodded. “Sure. Ran Ran has been saying that she wants to go and look at b.u.t.terflies.”

“b.u.t.terflies?”

Ji Ziming frowned. Where on earth could they go and look at b.u.t.terflies during this season? Although he was wealthy, he had never heard of looking at b.u.t.terflies in early autumn.

“What’s wrong? Do you think it’s difficult?”

The woman knew that her daughter’s small wish posed quite a challenge for the man.

“Nothing, I’ll find them. Don’t worry and hand this task to me.”

The man gave it a thought and was reminded of someone suitable of the role. The b.u.t.terflies would be amazing if they were to go there now.

“Really?”

She could not believe it as she looked at him with tenderness in her eyes.

“Really, let’s go. I can already hear them quarreling in the living room.”

Indeed, both elders were quarreling in the living room while smacking the sofa.

Pei Ge only knew much later that smacking the sofa was much more comfortable than smacking the coffee table.

“I say, you’re an old man, so why are you trying to get close to my daughter-in-law? It’s fine if you’re her uncle, but there’s no uncle like you who is so disrespectful to his niece’s mother-in-law.”

“How am I an old man? You hafta give me an explanation for that!”

The only thing Qu Xiujie heard in Madam Ji’s words was her mocking his age. Although he was older than forty, he looked nothing like his age for he had been taking great care of his skin.

“How are you not an old man? Are you staying in my house tonight? Let me tell you that this is impossible. Don’t even think about it.”

Even if she knew that this fella was Pei Ge’s uncle, he said those words that she wanted to listen to the least. Her att.i.tude had thus completely changed in that instant.

“You old woman!”

“You old man!”

The two quarreled for a long time in the living room that they finished drinking the pots of water on the coffee table.

“Mom, uncle, are you guys done?”

Ji Ziming crossed his arms as he looked at them both. One was his mother while the other was his woman’s uncle, whom she had reunited with less than two hours ago. This time around, he really did not know who was more important.

“Not yet. This old man is actually trying to sleep here for the night. Son, don’t you think this is infuriating?”

Madam Ji looked at Qu Xiujie, who was right before her, as she asked that angrily.

“I’m gonna sleep in your house; I’m just gonna follow my niece to her mother-in-law’s house to stay. So what? Are you going to kick me out?”

Qu Xiujie had not realized that he was gifted at acting rogue.

“Uncle, you guys should stop quarreling.”

Pei Ge walked up to him, tugged at his s.h.i.+rt, and spoke softly.

“Mom, it’s like this. Uncle and the Qu family had a fall out. It’s highly likely that there’ll be people getting back at uncle. We originally planned to have him stay at the hillside mansion, but because Ran Ran got sick, we came back here in a rush and brought him with us.”

“What? You guys still wanted this old man to stay at the hillside mansion?! I haven’t even stayed there for a few times, so why was he allowed to be there?”

The moment Madam Ji heard about the hillside mansion, her anger was heightened.

“Mom, it’s me who wanted to bring uncle to the hillside mansion. Stop getting angry and we’re back now.”

Ji Ziming poured two cups of water for both elders as he spoke earnestly. “Since we’re home, uncle is definitely going to stay here. We couldn’t possibly let him sleep on the streets. I’m not a petty person, and if you’re unwilling, I’ll bring him back to the hillside mansion.”

As he spoke with finality, he saw signs of his mother giving in.

“Still planning to bring this old man to other places?”

His mother took the gla.s.s of water from him, and although her hand was shaking, she was starting to give in.

“Why? Are you not going to let my nephew-in-law see me out? Old woman, can you not be so petty?”

Qu Xiujie was all out for his argument with the other and did not think of her not letting him stay here.

“Call me ‘old woman’ again and I’ll let you sleep on the streets.”

While Madam Ji did change her mind following her son’s reasoning, she did not show that she relented on her face.

“Older sister, does this mean that you’re letting me stay in your house tonight?”

Qu Xiujie was full of smiles; he looked better when smiling. He was good-looking to begin with but merely appeared more tired after much traveling these few days.

“You still dared to call me ‘older sister’.”

Madam Ji smiled as she had gotten her way. As long as she was happy, everything was negotiable.

“Younger sister…”

This elder called her ‘younger sister’ shamelessly.

Although she still looked unhappy, she was feeling much better than before.

The night was getting dark. Other than Ran Ran, everyone in the family was resting in the living room after having dinner. Ji Ziming and Pei Ge were discussing the new plans for the latter’s company, while the two children were excitedly playing go on the sofa. They appeared to be very skilled at the game, so there was still no winner between them after more than an hour of playing.

“Get out; let me do it.”

“Then, come do it yourself.”

“You get out first; why are you pus.h.i.+ng against me?”

“I can’t get out; don’t move.”

The couple turned their heads around suddenly and saw Qu Xiujie bending down and looking for something under the sofa with one leg lying on Madam Ji’s legs.

“Mom, what are you two doing?”

Ji Ziming asked because their earlier conversation was subjected to wild imagination.

“My automatic cleansing device fell under the sofa because of this old man. He’s helping me retrieve it now.”

Madam Ji admitted and realized how suggestive their earlier conversation was. She only realized this when the couple turned to look at them.

“What are you thinking about?”

She held onto her mask and asked her son angrily.

“Nothing, just curious.”

Ji Ziming smiled, and it came as a surprise to her. She felt slightly embarra.s.sed, but she could not explain everything, for it was too suggestive, and they did not want to believe it.
