Chapter 2223.2: Tai Sui Immortal King
“It’s a real star of the seven ancients…” The voice sounded again within the palace, this time with a flicker of excitement. “Hahaha, the seven stars of the ancients share the same roots as me. If I obtain one, I’ll have a chance of repairing my broken nascent soul!”
BOOM!
The treasures and weapons circulating around the palace spontaneously crumbled away. A fey man the color of blood strode out of the palace. He was tall, limber, and naked. Standing at three meters tall, blood-red hair trailed down to his ankles. A blood rune could be found between his brows!
A vicious spirit.
The man with skin the color of blood was a vicious spirit! The spirits weren’t typically sentient, but this one was no different from ordinary living beings.
“Expending all that effort to throw those items outside was worth it. I have indeed lured some nice talent to me…” The man’s b.l.o.o.d.y irises were focused on the ninety-ninth prince and the scintillating star above the young man.
“What? You threw out all the treasures and pills that erupted from here before?” Yu Hen’s face slackened with shock.
“Heh heh heh heh hehe… and it is all thanks to the Sword of Chaos for breaking the seal over this locale. If not, I’d still be trapped in the Sagittarii Palace! Greedy Wolf, Seven Kills, Army and Yinghuo—how dare the four of you scheme against me! When I get out of here, I will have all of you pay!” The man stuck out a long tongue and licked the corners of his lips, hate flas.h.i.+ng through his eyes.
“Kill!” Yu Hen ignored the man’s words. He could tell that although the man appeared domineering, especially having transformed into a vicious spirit, he was a tattered nascent soul at the heart of things.
As powerful as his core essence was, it was just a facade.
The enormous star was magnificent and breathtaking. All cultivators had their eyes on it and had long removed themselves from the clash of powerhouses. The crowd regathered three thousand kilometers away to observe, Xia Houwan part of them. He looked ardently at Yu Hen.
“Heh! Do you see that? That’s my brother Yu Hen! He doesn’t back down when facing an ancient monster, and he’ll still be my brother if he’s defeated and taken possession of!” Xia Houwan brayed with brainless laughter.
The other cultivators rolled their eyes and didn’t say anything.
Ninety-ninth prince Yu Hen possessed some of the highest potential among the Human Emperor’s numerous princes, but for reasons unknown, counted good-for-nothing Xia Houwan among his closest friends. This was so shocking that it was hard to digest for many.
The prince stood in front of the palace hall, a ma.s.sive star over his head and the immortal sword in his hand flaring with cutting sword light. Sword strokes filled the air like starlight, being everywhere and anywhere. He was a sword cultivator and would be a sword immortal after he ascended. Sword origin surged, resulting in sword qi so sharp that it cut through qi.
“Hahahaha!!” the man roared with laughter. Although he only had a nascent soul left to him, it rivaled Terra Demon’s. Astounding strength exploded in the air; void fissures ripped through the area.
He swung out with a simple punch that contained the boundless meaning of heaven and earth. The prince’s sword qi was as if paper in front of it, so fragile it didn’t bear mentioning. The simplistic punch swerved through layers of s.p.a.ce to reach the prince three hundred meters away.
Yu Hen paled with dismay, finding the unadorned punch like a world. It was so overwhelming that he could barely breathe. He wanted to avoid it, but couldn’t seem to move his body. Even his true origin was trapped and unable to circulate.
This was pressure from momentum.
When the fist was less than a third of a meter from his face, a ma.s.sive foot broke through the air and stepped on Yu Hen’s face a split second before the punch was delivered.
Yu He flew out like a cannonball and smashed into the wreckage of a nearby palace.
BAM!!
A terrifying explosion ripped through the air as two fists smashed into each other. Suffocating ripples spread in all directions as even the cultivators far removed from the battlefield were sent flying by the aftershocks.
“Hot d.a.m.n, this guy’s fist is seriously hard.” Several hundred meters away, Lu Yun shook off his hand with an expression of pain. One of his arms was broken and dripping blood onto his robes. The Builder Tree sapling flared with illumination and instantaneously repaired his arm.
“Looks like I need a defensive treasure as well.” Although his injury was healed, it still hurt like none other.
The man in front of him looked at Lu Yun with a grim look. If it wasn’t for this young man’s interference in kicking Yu Hen away, his punch would’ve obliterated the prince’s nascent soul and paved the way for his possession.
A bedraggled Yu Hen crawled out of a pile of rubble fifteen hundred meters away and raised cupped fists at Lu Yun. “My deepest thanks for your aid, brother! Yu Hen offers my grat.i.tude!”
Lu Yun tilted his face and inclined his head. At least Yu Hen isn’t the ungrateful sort.
Several rays of significant goodwill blossomed in the void and flowed into the Seal of the Mult.i.tude. Apart from Yu Hen, his subordinates and Xia Houwan also felt immensely grateful to Lu Yun.
Just a little more until I form an incense stick of goodwill. An incense stick worth is sufficient to raise the level of the heavenly dao combat arts! Delight rose in Lu Yun’s eyes.
Goodwill was measured in terms of incense sticks. One stick was boundless without end, a level that eluded him ever since he obtained the seal. After entering Immortal Burial Valley, however, he often saved cultivators surrounded by vicious spirits and shared the method to kill them with everyone. Almost every cultivator that’d faced the spirits was grateful to him.
He truly wasn’t a saint, but there were some things he had to do after receiving this treasure. The heavenly dao was forcing him to be a saint, he didn’t actually want to be one himself!
Goodwill brimmed in the Seal of the Mult.i.tude, swirling into a small vortex. When it fully took shape, that would be one incense stick of goodwill.
Lu Yun turned around and regarded the blood-red man with a frosty look.
“Who are you?” The man frowned and looked warily at the young man. “I sense a hint of a familiar presence on you.”
“Oh?” Lu Yun’s lips curved upward. “Is that so? You should think again.”
Immortals Forbidden s.h.i.+mmered in his hands as he leveled it at the man. When the latter saw the curve of Lu Yun’s lips, he couldn’t help a shudder.
He could sense that the aura of Lu Yun’s core essence wasn’t that strong—just a hair stronger than Yu Hen’s—but it somehow sparked immense fear from the bottom of his heart. It was a fear that stemmed from prior to being the Tai Sui Immortal King, one that was deeply etched in his heart.
Meanwhile, Lu Yun naturally recognized the person in front of him. This was one of the five inauspicious star kings beneath the central immortal emperor—the Tai Sui Immortal King. It didn’t surprise him that the man was here, given that the Undying Immortal King had perished here.
His condition was no better than when Lu Yun encountered Terra Demon. However, Terra Demon was more fortunate than the immortal king in that he’d nurtured a Yong Heyu to possess.
All that was left of the Tai Sui Immortal King was a naked nascent soul.
The nascent soul of an immortal king, even a fragmented one, was uncommonly strong and nothing that an ordinary cultivator could stand up to. Given Tai Sui’s extensive injuries and the lack of a physical body, on the other hand, fighting cultivators was the current limits of his abilities.
Lu Yun wasn’t afraid of a tattered nascent soul. He could take it back as nourishment for Terra Demon. The latter was also a heavily damaged immortal king nascent soul. Though he’d refined a Hongmeng Fruit, he still couldn’t bring more than a hundred millionth of his full strength to bear. Another immortal king’s nascent soul would be perfect fodder to sh.o.r.e up his deficiencies. Not to mention, Tai Sui’s immortal soul was already polluted by the vicious spirits.
Tai Sui narrowed his eyes, trying to place where he knew the young man from. The damaged state of his nascent soul, however, affected his memories. No matter how he tried, he couldn’t recall who the young man in pristine white robes was.
“Smoke and mirrors!” Tai Sui was nearly overcome with fear, but he forced it down and shouted with indignation. Streaking into a ray of b.l.o.o.d.y light, he flung himself at Lu Yun.
Pfft!
The young man’s body shattered, but he quickly reappeared over Tai Sui’s head. Immortals Forbidden erupted with a ring of sword light and stabbed at Tai Sui’s forehead.
Jerking with shock, the immortal king hastily dodged and raised rays of b.l.o.o.d.y light to protect him.
“You’re not the one who absorbed the core essence of these treasures… is there something else inside the palace?” Lu Yun tilted his head. HIs Eye of Nullification couldn’t see through the restriction around the building structure.
“Why… why am I this afraid of you?” Tai Sui trembled like a leaf and couldn’t exert even half of his usual strength.
“Hmph,” Lu Yun curled his lip. There was no way he was telling Tai Sui that he’d killed the man five times in the world of immortals. Although the central immortal emperor had resurrected him with heaven-defying power each time, his terror when it came to the High Lord of the Northern Sky was branded in his soul.
The Tai Sui Immortal King was the most unpropitious of the central immortal emperor’s five inauspicious stars. Disaster accompanied him every time he showed himself. He often did so in the world of immortals, creating disasters to further his cultivation.
At that time, Lu Yun was yet to reach chaos immortal, much less the High Lord of the Northern Sky. He’d merely used the strength of an immortal overlord to kill the man five times, planting the seeds of fear deep in his heart.
